Advice from Upperclassmen

"I strongly believe that getting involved in fall anything will help the beginning of the year not be as bad. You definitely want to get involved early on so you have the chance to meet all these new people before school even starts or quickly right after it does! Definitely will get your face to be a recognizable one for many people and you will make a lot more new friends that way! Less awkward and shy the better! Get involved!"
- 12th Grader

"Just  be cool and make friends with upperclassman it makes the move to
the main building so much easier."
- 10th Grader
"Don't  be scared to try new things. Join
a club, go to games, participate!
That's how  you make school enjoyable!"
- 10th Grader

"Make sure you study and keep your grades up. Once your GPA drops, it's hard to bring it back up. Stay focused in school, but also make time for friends. Find friends  who are a good influence and also get involved in your school!"
- 11th Grader

"Ask about clubs!!! Ask what they are and get the info to join them if they sound fun! Be involved with things you like, not just what you think you should  do."
- 11th Grader
"Learn  to relax and take things
one step at a time. Don't try to jump
right into things  without
 being prepared."
 - 10th Grader

"If I could give one piece of advice to a freshman, I would advise them to always focus on academics before anything else. Although some may think freshman year is not very important, I believe every year of high school is very important. Academics should always come first, and it's always a good idea to stay focused and make sure you're getting good grades."

Midterm Advice

"Read your notes every night! It's never too early to start studying, so mute the TV during commercials and study your notes! It really does help!"
- 11th Grader
"Seek help from others by participating in study groups if you don't understand a lesson."
- 12th Grader
"Use all the practice problems and packets your teachers give you. Also Quizlet.com is great for flashcard material."
- 11th Grader
"When you get a study guide, go through the packet and answer what you can. Star the ones you don't know or understand and ask your teacher about every one of those questions you don't know. That's why your teachers are there! There's no ask limit."
- 12th Grader
"Make flashcards and carry them with you everywhere. Use Quizlet!"
- 12th Grader
"Do the review packets your teachers give you, even if they're not mandatory."
- 12th Grader
"Get together with friends at the library; it's a great environment to focus and reserve rooms to help each other out, but don't procrastinate!"
- 11th Grader
